Jared Barnes has taught instrumental music in north central Iowa for fifteen years, working with band students ranging from fifth through twelfth grade, in both private and public school settings. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education
degree from Wartburg College (Summa Cum Laude).
As a performer, he remains active performing with a wide variety of ensembles, ranging from concert bands to pit orchestras and church ensembles. Mr. Barnes also continues to work as a composer and arranger, writing works in a wide range of styles for instrumental and vocal
ensembles, as well as for solo piano and voice. His works have been performed in
recital and concert settings by musicians of all skill levels and ages, both in the United States and around the world.
As an educator, he has enjoyed working with band students of all ages and ability levels. His bands have regularly received Division I, superior
ratings at state contests. Under his direction, the Newman High School and Northwood-Kensett High School concert bands were selected to perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Convention as the Class 1A Honor Band in 2011 and 2019, respectively. He has also served as guest conductor and clinician for several concert bands, and as conductor for numerous musical productions.
